Independent Culinary Skills for Mixed-Age Classrooms
Bring the magic of the kitchen to your classroom with The Common Table. This session is designed to transform "cooking class" from a chaotic group task into a calm, individual practice of skill and discovery.
Unlike traditional bulk recipes, every lesson in this curriculum is written per-child, ensuring zero food waste and allowing every student—from Preschool to Grade 5—to prepare their own individual dish from start to finish. With a focus on autonomy and rhythmic classroom management, Session I provides the foundation for a peaceful, productive "kitchen hour."
Inside Session I:
12 Seasonal Recipes: This session focuses on January to April (although can be used anytime). Each scaled for a single serving so every child gets hands-on experience.
Age & Skill Adjustments: Clear guidance on how to adapt tools and techniques for tiny hands (Pre-K) up to master chefs (Grade 5).
The Intentional Kitchen: Specialized classroom management tips to keep your workspace clean, safe, and flowing smoothly.
